Usage
More detailed instructions on surveying will be posted soon
Load the surveyor by using the surveyor icon on Quickbar.
Manual Surveying:
Press Survey to survey a single area. All pazs in visible area are submitted. Enabling showzones by clicking zones will help determine what was submitted.
If your surveying a single Neighborhood Zone or Paz Comminuty use this, Larger communities may require more than one survey if all zones arent rendering without movnig.
Auto Surveying:
Pressing the mode toggle ( manual ) will toggle the text to auto. Press Survey to start. A survey will be performed and then a 20 second timer will start.
Another surevy will be performed after 20 seconds and it will loop forver until you pess the mode toggle again to stop it.
AUTO MODE IS FOR ADVANCED MASS SURVEYING WHILE IN MOTION IT IS NOT FOR KEEPING AN AREA UP TO DATE EVERY 20 SECONDS. PLEASE DO NOT USE AUTO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE NEED TOO. DO NOT ALLOW THE SAME ARE TO SUBMIT CONTINUOUSLY.
Click auto at any time during the blue wait period to switch back to manual.
Detailed:
At any time if the loading progress meter appears to hang, this sometimes occurs in heavily populated areas that are still loading. ( determined by watching your ping bandwidth meter ). Stop Moving. Allow the area to load and it will usually continue loading. If Auto mode is on it is suggested that you turn it off to prevent locking it up. If necessary close the surveyor and restart it.
For advanced surveyors i suggest approaching massive areas slowly or stopping and allow the surveyor to do a full survey before moving on to allow more objects render at a controlled pace. If you fly right into an area like duda beach in auto mode and just keep flying around you will lockup the surveyor. Your bandwidth meter wil stay solid green for much longer than 20 seconds causing this lockup and using all resources. These areas can be safely handled by stopping turning off auto let things load and then start auto aain and start moving slowly. It may take 4-5 surveys to completly survey dense areas. Dense areas reduce your objects rendering distance and only close objects will render, so you may need to systematically watch the surveyor and what is loaded. naturally you must use zones when in advanced or auto.
Eventually you will get the hang of it and learn how to leave auto on and handle dense areas by throttling your movements and circling.
Advanced users are recommended to use hoverboats with zones on and find a good zoom or usercam distance and angle to allow you the best visibility. Dont zoom out too far, your zone lines will dissapear. :) I find it good to use user cam to zoom out and angle a bit. You can use quickbar zoom controls while in this mode to quickly get a birds eye view and then revert to standard view, your user cam settings will stilll be in effect.
You will get really good at it and learn the layouts of there really fast. Its quite fun, I can perform a full survey of caldera ( the densest and laregst zone ) in 45-60 minutes. I suggest going around the perimiter of an island and then crisscrossing where necessary to get everything in the middle. Of course sometimes i just fly from green square to no green square and look for them to appear. Cruise control is fine but you will have to reduce your speed at some times when there are alot of objects loading or if your timer is still 20 seconds away from loading.
